Microsoft Office default theme

After a decade, Microsoft Office is getting a new refreshed default theme. This new default Office theme comes with a new font, color palette, style, and line weights to make the documents more modern and accessible.

New default font: Aptos

  • It supports a variety of weights and includes variants such as narrow, serif, and monospace.

New Color palette:

  • You can use these new colors to style content such as charts, lists, and shapes.

Default outline weights:

  • Increased the default outline weights, improved the consistency between shapes and lines, and added better contrast.

Default styles – Word:

  • Refreshed default style of our Word documents and Outlook emails to make them easy to read, look more professional, and easy to navigate.

If you don’t like the new theme, you can still go back to the old one which is now renamed Office Theme 2013 – 2022.

For now, this new default theme is available to Microsoft 365 Insiders running the following versions of Office apps:

  • Win32: Version 2308 (Build 16701.20000) or later
  • Mac: Version 16.76 (Build 23070400) or later
  • Android: Version 16.0.16701.20000 or later

The new default theme will be coming to iOS later on.
