Samsung Announces Galaxy Unpacked 2023 Event: Expect New Flagships and Smartwatches

Samsung has officially announced the much-anticipated Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, with a confirmed date set for 26 July. The event, taking place slightly earlier than the traditional August schedule, is expected to launch a range of innovative products, and enthusiasts can already register their interest on the Galaxy Unpacked event page.

Although Samsung has not specified the devices that will be launched at the event, a peek at the pre-registration offers gives us a glimpse into what we can expect. Pre-registered customers can receive $50/£50 off on Galaxy smartphone products and $25/£25 off any new product from the Galaxy range. Icons representing a “Flip Device,” “Fold Device,” “Tablet,” and “Smartwatch” also feature on the event page, indicating the likely introduction of the Galaxy Z Flip 5, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the Galaxy S9 tablet range, and the Galaxy Watch 6 series of smartwatches.

Rumors suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will offer significant design improvements over the Z Flip 4, including a redesigned hinge for a completely flat fold and a larger external display. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to follow suit with a similar hinge design, potentially featuring enhanced water resistance and the typical hardware upgrades.

The Galaxy Tab S9 series is expected to follow the structure of the S8 tablets, with the design remaining relatively consistent but for changes in the rear camera housings. As for the Galaxy Watch 6, there are whispers of three models – Watch 6, Watch 6 Pro, and Watch 6 Classic – featuring circular screens, premium build qualities, and potentially, a titanium body for the Classic model.

As part of its ‘Join the flip side’ campaign, Samsung has released a teaser video that showcases the transformative power of foldable technology. The campaign calls on consumers to challenge conventional smartphone design and step into new, unique experiences offered by the Galaxy Z series.

“The flip side itself is about more than just a device — it’s a way of thinking. A way of living. It’s a new and open world where better experiences are waiting for those willing to step beyond the boundaries of convention and try something new,” said Sonia Chang, Vice President of Brand Marketing Group of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.

The Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event will be the first Unpacked event hosted in Seoul, Korea, signaling Samsung’s commitment to showcasing the intersection of traditional culture and futuristic visions. The event will be streamed live on Samsung Newsroom, Samsung.com, and Samsung’s YouTube channel starting at 8:00 p.m. KST, 7:00 a.m. ET, 4:00 a.m. PT, and 12:00 p.m. BST.
