Microsoft has officially announced the general availability of its comprehensive identity governance product, Entra ID Governance. Designed to ensure the right people have access to the right resources at the right time, the cloud-based product offers capabilities that enhance identity management and governance for both on-premises and cloud applications.
A Complete Identity Governance Solution
Entra ID Governance combines features already available in Azure Active Directory, a part of Microsoft Entra, with advanced tools designed to simplify identity management and governance. Customers who are new to governance or wish to modernize an existing solution will find ID Governance extends the market-leading identity and access management platform in Azure Active Directory.
The product is easy to deploy and includes capabilities that aid in meeting compliance requirements. Features such as machine learning-powered access review recommendations, a no-code/low-code approach for extensibility, workflows for automating identity lifecycle management tasks, and access provisioning for Software as a Service (SaaS) and on-premises applications are all part of Entra ID Governance.
Enhanced Features for Better Governance
One of the key enhancements to ID Governance is a new dashboard that provides a comprehensive and actionable overview of an organization’s current state of identity governance. This tool offers a complete picture of identity and access statuses within the organization, allowing security professionals to monitor, adjust, and control identities and access permissions effectively.
Furthermore, entitlement management can now leverage Microsoft Entra Verified ID to confirm users’ digital identities before automatically granting access to specific resource packages. This added layer of security ensures that only validated identities get access, further strengthening the governance process.
Availability and Support
Entra ID Governance can be added to Azure AD Premium P1 or P2 licenses, providing an affordable way to bring comprehensive identity governance to all employees and business guests. Starting July 1, ID Governance can be purchased online, from licensing partners, or via Microsoft sales teams.
In terms of implementation support, reputable companies like Edgile, a Wipro company, EY LLP, KPMG firms, and PwC are ready to assist customers in planning and implementing ID Governance.
For more information on Entra ID Governance, Microsoft encourages customers to visit the ID Governance page or provide feedback on the new features via the Azure forum or on Twitter.
This development is a significant milestone in Microsoft’s commitment to providing powerful and easy-to-use identity governance solutions. With this announcement, Microsoft further solidifies its position as a market leader in identity and access management.
