Microsoft announces updated Paint app with dark mode support, zoom improvements and more

Microsoft Paint app Windows 11

Microsoft today announced a new Paint app update for Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels (version 11.2304.17.0). This Paint app update for Windows 11 devices adds support for dark mode. Also, the Paint app will now adapt to your system theme preferences, but you can change this in the settings page.

Microsoft also announced improved zoom controls in this new update for Paint app. The classic presets are still available, but you can now also zoom in and out with finer granularity increments on the zoom slider or set a custom zoom value for even greater precision. Using the new fit to screen option, you can now quickly optimize zoom to match your window size.

This updated Paint app now comes with the “Image Properties” dialog that match the style of the new Windows 11 design. Finally, Microsoft has also improved access key and keyboard shortcut support throughout the app.
