Along with the announcement about the new Meta Quest 3, Meta today announced that it is lowering the price of Quest 2 to $299.99 USD. The 128GB SKU will cost $299.99 and the 256GB SKU will cost $349.99. This price change will go live from June 4th.
Meta Quest 2 will also get a major performance boost through a software update. With this upcoming update, Quest 2 and Pro will see an up-to 26% CPU performance increase with an up-to 19% GPU speed increase for Quest 2 and 11% for Quest Pro. This improved performance will result in smoother gameplay, a more responsive UI, and richer content on both headsets. Meta is also enabling Dynamic Resolution Scaling for both Quest 2 and Quest Pro, so developers can take advantage of increased pixel density without dropping frames.
Even after Quest 3 goes on sale, Meta will continue to sell Quest 2 as Quest 2 remains Meta’s most affordable entry point to VR.
