Google begins roll out of new generative AI capabilities in Search

Google Search Generative AI

Google today announced that it has opened up access to Search Labs through which users can access early experiments from Google. You can join the waitlist at labs.google.com/search. With the new generative AI powered Search experience, you will be able to understand a topic faster, discover new viewpoints and insights and get things done easily.

First, when you search for “Learning ukulele vs guitar,” Google Search will provide an AI-powered snapshot to help you understand what factors to consider.

When you have a very specific question in mind, you can now easily find pointers for the key info you need to know or see a range of options available and take the next step with help from the web. For example, if you’re getting ready for an international trip, but need to make sure your documents are up to date, you can search for “How can I renew my passport quickly?”

You can now discover a range of products and things to consider while shopping. For example, you can search for “Peel and stick wallpaper for kitchen” to learn about important factors, like if it’s easy it is to remove, and get a list of stylish options, including price, customer ratings and links to purchase.

If you want to explore further, you can use the “ask a follow-up question” feature or select a suggested next step, which will take you into conversational mode.
