Microsoft has announced a significant update to its Microsoft 365 mobile app for Android and iOS, aimed at improving the experience of signing PDFs on mobile devices. Ajay Sodhi, a Product Manager on the Microsoft 365 mobile app team, shared the exciting news, highlighting the new feature that allows users to store their initials and full signatures for future use.

In today’s fast-paced world, the ability to remain productive on the go is crucial. Recognizing this, Microsoft has enhanced its mobile app to facilitate the signing of PDFs, a task that many users often need to complete while away from their desks. Whether it’s a tax document, rental agreement, contract, or any other important PDF, Microsoft 365 mobile app has got its users covered.

The new feature is straightforward to use. Users simply open the PDF they want to sign and select the “Sign PDF” option. For first-time users, they will need to create a new signature in the Signature box, ensuring that the “Store Signature” option is turned on. This signature is then saved for future use. To sign a PDF using a saved signature, users open the file they want to sign, tap where they want the signature to appear, and then tap the stored signature to insert it into the PDF. The signature can be resized as needed, and the signing process is completed by selecting the checkmark in the upper left corner of the PDF.

An added convenience is that any attachments and read-only files that users open and sign get automatically saved in a “Signed” folder repository. If the signed PDF is not saved anywhere or is a read-only PDF, it gets saved automatically in the specified folder.

The feature is available to Insiders running iOS: Version 2.72 (Build 23041202) or later and Android: Build 16.0.16327.20270 or later. Microsoft is gradually releasing features to ensure smooth operation, so if users don’t have it yet, it’s likely due to the phased rollout.

Microsoft encourages users to provide feedback on this new feature, as it helps them to continually improve their offerings. This enhancement to the Microsoft 365 mobile app is a testament to Microsoft’s commitment to making productivity seamless, regardless of where users are or what device they’re using.
