Samsung Chat Lock

WhatsApp today announced a new feature called Chat Lock that will allow you to protect certain conversations on WhatsApp with one more layer of security. For example, you can protect the WhatsApp conversation you are having with your spouse or partner so that you can share your phone from time to time with a family member for video calling and others.

Once protected, the chats can be accessed only with device password or biometric. Also, it automatically hides the contents of that chat in notifications, too. So, you don’t have to worry about someone else holding your phone at the exact moment an extra special chat arrives.

Here’s how Chat Lock feature works on WhatsApp:

  • You can lock a chat by tapping the name of a one-to-one or group and selecting the lock option.
  • To reveal these locked chats, slowly pull down on your inbox and enter your phone password or biometric.

In the coming months, WhatsApp will add new features for Chat Lock including the ability to lock for companion devices and creating a custom password for your chats so that you can use a unique password different from the one you use for your phone.

Chat Lock feature is now rolling out to everyone globally.
