Meta Avatars

During the earnings call yesterday, Meta announced that more than one billion avatars have been created across its technologies. Today, Meta announced improvements to Meta Avatars including new avatar body shapes, partnership with PUMA for new outfits, and more. Find the details below.

Until now, the body shape options available when creating an avatar was all similar and rectangular in shape. Starting this month, you’ll be able to choose from a wider range of body shape options, including two curvier body shapes. Meta will add more options over time.

Through Avatars Store, users were able to buy outfits from some of the world’s leading fashion, sports, and lifestyle brands — including Madhappy, the NBA, Prada and Thom Browne. Today, Meta is adding PUMA to the list.

Finally, Meta has improved avatar’s hair, clothing and eyes appearance in stickers, profile pictures, cover photos and more.

Meta has added additional detail and realism to both hair and clothing. Meta has also tweaked its lighting model to add a little more of a reflective gleam to eyes.

Meta also announced that it has planned a lot of improvements coming to avatars this year.
