Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop Preview

Microsoft yesterday announced the public preview of the Azure Virtual Desktop app in the Microsoft Store. The new Azure Virtual Desktop app has the same features as the existing Microsoft Remote Desktop for Windows client, but it includes some new capabilities that are described below.

  • With the Remote Desktop client, updates are only available through manual download. Using the new Azure Virtual Desktop app, updates are automatic, so users no longer need to be concerned about missing an update. Automatic updates keep users current on all the latest features and releases.
  • The new Azure Virtual Desktop app allows the user to reduce the clutter of apps in their Start menu and personalize it by picking the remote apps they want to pin to the Start menu.

The Azure Virtual Desktop app is supported on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. You can download it for free from Microsoft Store here.

With Azure Virtual Desktop, you can set up a multi-session Windows 11 or Windows 10 deployment that delivers a full Windows experience. You can also present Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise and optimize it to run in multi-user virtual scenarios.
