Microsoft is changing the default print screen key behavior in Windows 11

Windows 11 Snipping Tool

Microsoft recently released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.1546 and Build 22624.1546 (KB5025310) to the Beta Channel. This Windows 11 Insider build includes a significant change. Microsoft is going to change the default behavior of Print Screen key in Windows 11.

Right now, when you press Print Screen key, Windows will take a screenshot of the whole screen and save it in the clipboard. One can open apps like Paint and paste the screenshot for further processing. With the upcoming change, pressing the print screen key will now open Snipping Tool by default.

As always, Microsoft is providing the choice to users. Users can turn off this setting via Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard. Also, if you have previously modified this setting yourself, your preference will be preserved.

Are you happy with Microsoft’s decision to change the default Print Screen behavior?
