Former Google AI researcher claims that Google used ChatGPT responses to train its AI model

Google bard ChatGPT

Early this month, Google announced the public preview of Bard, an AI-powered chat experience similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing Chat.

Here’s how Google’s Bard works:

Bard is powered by a research large language model (LLM), a lightweight and optimized version of LaMDA. Once you get a response from Bard for your query, you can ask follow-up questions. And if you want to see an alternative, you can ask Bard to try again. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can Click “Google it” to see suggestions for queries, and Search will open in a new tab so you can find relevant results..

Today, The Information published an article that Google Brain and DeepMind teams have been forced to work together on a project known as Gemini to compete with OpenAI’s GPT-4. Since Bard is not performing as per the expectation, Google’s management has forced software engineers at both the units to develop an AI model that would have up to 1 trillion parameters.

The Information also reported that a top Google AI researcher has recently resigned his job because of Google’s decision to train its AI model on OpenAI’s ChatGPT responses. ShareGPT is a Chrome extension that enables users to easily share their ChatGPT conversations with the world. ShareGPT already has more than 100,000 ChatGPT conversation. As per the report, Google used ShareGPT to train its AI model.

But Google has now denied the Information’s allegations.

Bard is not trained on any data from ShareGPT or ChatGPT
