Over the last two years, Microsoft has used industry-leading machine learning, AI, and other innovative technologies to develop a world-class weather forecasting capability. In a new, independent study commissioned by Microsoft and conducted by ForecastWatch, Weather from Microsoft Start was named the most accurate weather forecasting service among the top global weather providers.
ForecastWatch’s analysis included a comparison of Weather from Microsoft Start’s abilities to provide precise global forecasts against 24 other major forecast providers. Microsoft Start not only provided the most accurate forecast overall but also achieved the highest ranking in predicting high temperature, low temperature, and wind speed.
Integrated into Windows, Weather from Microsoft Start comes with an intelligent, personalized feed that delivers up-to-the-minute weather information, free of charge. Besides severe weather alerts, the service offers precise weather data to help users make informed decisions regarding their lifestyles, health, jobs, and activities. This includes accurate 10-day global weather forecasts that are updated multiple times every hour.
Microsoft’s commitment to providing reliable weather information has not gone unnoticed. The company was recently acknowledged by the Director of NOAA’s National Weather Service for its contributions to public safety.
