Microsoft’s LinkedIn Embraces AI for Recruitment Ads and Profile Writing

LinkedIn is expanding its AI capabilities to include AI-powered writing suggestions for user profiles and recruitment advertisements. Following Microsoft’s all-in approach on OpenAI, LinkedIn is leveraging advanced GPT models, GPT-4 for personalized profiles, and GPT-3.5 for job descriptions. The AI-powered writing suggestions aim to assist users in crafting better profiles and job postings by generating more fluid narratives and enhancing the overall user experience.

Initially, the AI-writing prompts for profiles will be available to Premium users. These prompts are intended to help those who struggle to write compelling overviews of themselves by translating the provided information into a more appealing narrative. The AI tool focuses on identifying crucial skills and experiences to feature in the “About” and “Headline” sections, crafting suggestions that reflect the user’s unique voice and style. Users are encouraged to review and edit the AI-generated content before adding it to their profiles.

Similarly, the AI-powered job descriptions streamline the recruitment process by generating suggested job postings based on basic information provided by the recruiter, such as job title and company name. This feature saves recruiters time and effort while still allowing customization according to their needs.

Despite the potential benefits of these AI-driven tools, concerns arise over the authenticity of AI-generated profiles. Recruiters and networkers may find it harder to discern the essence of a potential candidate or connection, potentially leading to more wasted time. However, for recruitment advertisements, the AI-generated content may prove useful since many job descriptions today are generic and lack specificity.

LinkedIn is determined to continue leveraging generative AI to explore new ways of delivering value to its members and customers, emphasizing that this is only the beginning of their AI-powered journey.
