Microsoft’s new Bing runs on OpenAI’s GPT-4, you can try it for free today

Microsoft Bing new

When Microsoft launched the new Bing experience last month, there were rumors that Microsoft might be using OpenAI’s next generation large language model. Today, Microsoft revealed that the new Bing is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4.

GPT-4 is OpenAI’s next generation large language model that offers several improvements over the last gen GPT-3.5. For example, the GPT-4 can accept 25,000 words of text, images and offer more accurate responses. You can learn more about it here. The GPT-4 was trained on Microsoft Azure AI supercomputers.

Bing benefits from GPT-4’s improvements to ensure that its users have the most comprehensive copilot features available.

Right now, GPT-4 model is available only for ChatGPT Plus customers. But you can try it for free using the new Bing Preview. The new Bing is available now in a limited preview on desktop. For now, you can try sample queries and sign up for the waitlist here. When you have cleared the waitlist, Microsoft will send an email letting you know that you can access the new Bing at Bing.com.

On a related note, Microsoft recently increased the Bing Chat limits to 15 /150. Also, Bing is testing an optimization on “Balanced” mode to significantly improve performance resulting in shorter, quicker responses.
