Microsoft today announced the release of Windows 11 Preview Build 23403 to Dev Channel Insiders.
In this build, Microsoft has expanded the support for Live Captions to Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish and other English dialects. Microsoft also announced the addition of access key shortcuts into the XAML context menu in File Explorer. An access key is a one keystroke shortcut that allows a keyboard user to quickly execute a command in context menu.
Another substantial change coming to File Explorer in Windows 11 is the new File Recommendations feature. This new feature will bring most relevant file content right to File Explorer home page for users signed with an Azure Active Directory (AAD) account.
Files that are recommended will be cloud files associated with that account, either owned by the user, or shared with the user.
Microsoft also announced the redesigned in-app command help page in voice access. The search bar allows users to quickly find commands and the various categories provide further guidance.
Finally, the multi-app kiosk mode in Windows 11 allows an admins to select a set of allowable apps to run on the device, while all other functionalities are blocked.
Some lockdown customizations include:
- Limiting access to Settings, except selected pages (e.g., Wi-Fi and screen brightness)
- Lock down the Start menu to show only allowed apps.
- Block toasts and pop-ups that lead to unwanted UI.
