Microsoft has now updated the Acceptable Use Policy for its Azure cloud services. With the updated policy, Microsoft now explicitly prohibits mining for cryptocurrencies across all Microsoft Online Services. But you can override this policy by getting a written pre-approval grant from Microsoft.

The updated Acceptable Use Policy went into effect on December 1, 2022. This change applies to all new licenses. Existing licenses will be subject to the new Acceptable Use Policy upon renewal.

Microsoft suggests seeking written pre-approval from Microsoft before using Microsoft Online Services for mining cryptocurrencies, regardless of the term of a subscription.

It will be interesting to see how AWS and Google Cloud react to this policy change by Microsoft. Either they will join Microsoft in banning cryptocurrency or they can help existing Azure customers to migrate their mining to their respective cloud platforms.
