Microsoft has confirmed that they have laid of hundreds of employees across the company yesterday.
The job losses have been across multiple divisions and a variety of levels, teams and parts of the world and appear to be part of a wave of lay-offs and job freezes across the tech industry, likely in response to the downturn in the global economy.
In a statement to Axios, Microsoft said:
“Like all companies, we evaluate our business priorities on a regular basis, and make structural adjustments accordingly. We will continue to invest in our business and hire in key growth areas in the year ahead”
Microsoft has not confirmed the number of posts affected, but it is believed to total less than 1000.
