At Ignite 2022, Microsoft today announced the availability of Mesh Avatars private preview in Microsoft Teams. Using Mesh avatars for Teams, you can create custom animated avatars to represent yourself in Teams meetings.
You will be able to use the new Avatars app in the Microsoft Teams App Store to design up to three unique avatars using the hundreds of customization options including physical attributes, costumes, accessories and more. Once you have created an avatar, you can use it during a Teams meeting by selecting the option from the “Effects and Avatars” menu before joining the meeting. Also, when the meeting is going on, you can choose from a wide range of gestures to react to topics.
Mesh avatars are perfect for:
- Being visually present without turning your camera on.
- Expressing yourself with a range of gestures and reactions.
- Making multiple versions to fit different meetings.
Mesh avatars private preview is available in the standard Teams meeting experience. Organizations interested in trying out avatars can sign up for updates on the Teams website if they are not already part of the Teams Technical Access Program.
