Samsung has revealed that the company suffered a data breach which has leaked the details of some of their US customers.

They report that in late July 2022, an unauthorized third party acquired information from some of Samsung’s U.S. systems. A month ago, on or around August 4, 2022, they determined through an ongoing investigation that the personal information of certain customers was affected.

Samsung notes information such as name, contact and demographic information, date of birth, and product registration information may have been leaked, but that the data did not include Social Security numbers or credit and debit card numbers.

Samsung says they are working with industry-leading experts to further enhance the security of their systems and recommends customers:

  • Remain cautious of any unsolicited communications that ask for your personal information or refer you to a web page asking for personal information
  • Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from suspicious emails
  • Review their accounts for suspicious activity
