GIMP, a popular free image editor is now available for download from the new Microsoft Store. It is important to note that this is the first official release by GIMP team. Since GIMP is free and open source, anyone can repackage and distribute it, but 3rd party packages cannot be trusted.
We are happy to announce GIMP being now officially distributed on the Microsoft Store so that everyone can get GIMP from its source. – Gimp team.
Even if you install GIMP from the Microsoft Store, it actually uses the exact same installer available for download from GIMP website. So, you won’t get auto-updates like most other Microsoft Store apps. GIMP team may consider creating a MSIX or UWP package in the future.
