Microsoft demoes JoinXR, “Powerpoint” for Mixed Reality presentations

While the covid-19 pandemic has subsided, it appears work from home and remote work is here to stay.

In a new video, Microsoft has uploaded a demo of JoinXR, a platform by Fracture Reality, which allows users to enjoy a mixed reality presentation with a real sense of presence, no matter where they are.

Ultimately, using still nascent technology such as holoportation, Microsoft hopes to bring fully rendered 3D avatars to virtual meetings, all powered by Azure remote rendering, which allows the use of extremely detailed and complex 3D models even on low-powered devices.

Microsoft has published a full session titled “The Future of Holograms” featuring this content and a panel with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital which can be viewed here.
