Right now, Widgets in Windows 11 are limited to Microsoft’s own apps and services. At Build 2022, Microsoft today announced that it will open up the widgets experience to 3rd party developers later this year.

Developers will be able to create companion widgets for Win32 and PWA apps on Windows 11, powered by the Adaptive Cards platform. Adaptive Cards are a platform-agnostic way of sharing and displaying blocks of information without the complexity of customizing CSS or HTML to render them.
