Microsoft Azure CosmosDB gets new burst capacity and elasticity features

Microsoft Azure CosmosDB

At Build 2022, Microsoft announced new updates for Azure Cosmos DB, a fully managed NoSQL database. Azure Cosmos DB offers single-digit millisecond response times, and automatic and instant scalability.

The new burst capacity and elasticity features coming to Azure Cosmos DB will allow apps to be available at high performance during peak times without cost overruns. Some of the new features include increased serverless capacity to 1 TB, shared throughput across database partitions and support for hierarchical partition keys.

Microsoft now also offers continuous backup and point-in-time restore capability which enables seven-day data recovery and restoration from accidental deletes. This feature will be available for free. Also, the role-based access control support for Azure Cosmos DB API for MongoDB delivers improved security.

Microsoft also announced that Azure Cosmos DB now has an improved 30-day free trial experience, and support for MongoDB data in the Azure Cosmos DB Linux desktop emulator.
