Microsoft Project Volterra

At Build 2022, Microsoft announced Project Volterra, a Qualcomm Snapdragon-based development kit with AI capabilities powered by a neural processor. Qualcomm today announced the new Neural Processing SDK for Windows toolkit that will allow developers to take advantage of the native AI capabilities of Snapdragon Windows devices.

Microsoft also announced an end-to-end Arm-native toolchain for Arm native apps, including:

  • Full Visual Studio 2022 & VSCode
  • Visual C++
  • Modern .NET 6 and Java
  • Classic .NET Framework
  • Windows Terminal
  • WSL and WSA for running Linux and Android apps

Microsoft will release a preview of the above apps in the coming weeks. Microsoft also highlighted that it is helping many open-source projects natively target Arm including Python, node, git, LLVM, and more.
