At Google I/O, Google announced an all-new immersive view in Google Maps. The new immersive view in Google Maps uses computer vision and AI to fuse together billions of Street View and aerial images to create a digital model of the world.
With the new immersive view, you can experience what a Google Maps location is like and make the decisions before you go.
For example, if you are planning a trip to London, with a quick search, you can virtually fly over Westminster to see the neighborhood and stunning architecture of places, like Big Ben, up close. Also, information will be layered on top. And you can use the time slider to check out what the area looks like at various times of day and in various weather conditions and see where the busy spots are. You can also go to street level to explore nearby restaurants and see helpful information.
Immersive view will work on any phone and device. Google will roll out Immersive view in Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo later this year with more cities coming soon.
