In order to boost its hardware efforts, Google yesterday announced that it is has acquired Raxium, a MicroLED display company. Raxium has developed the world’s highest performance ultra-high density monolithic RGB µLED displays.

Raxium enables a new class of smaller but powerful display products, ranging from augmented and virtual reality micro-displays to life-size panel-based light field arrays. Raxium will join Google’s Devices & Services team.
