Microsoft Teams

Microsoft has quietly launched an updated version of Microsoft Teams app that is optimized for Apple Silicon devices. Until now, Microsoft was using Apple’s Rosetta 2 technology to run the Microsoft Teams app built for Intel-based devices on Apple Silicon-based devices.

With the new Microsoft Teams Universal app, the app is now optimized for both Intel and M1-based Macs.

Microsoft has yet to officially announce the availability of this updated version of Teams app. It remains to be seen how much improvement it brings to Apple Silicon-based devices. My guess is that performance and battery life would have been improved by taking advantage of native media APIs on Apple Silicon-devices.
