Google recently announced that the G Suite legacy free edition will no longer be available starting May 1, 2022. After this date, Google will transition G Suite legacy free edition users to Google Workspace trial edition. Following the backlash from current customers, Google recently announced Google Workspace Essentials Starter edition that will provide basic collaboration features for free. This plan includes popular Google apps like Chat, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet.

Yesterday, Microsoft announced a new offer targeting the G Suite legacy free edition users. Microsoft now allows these users to get a 60 percent discount on a 12-month Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, or Business Premium subscription. In addition to the discount, Microsoft is also offering one year of free support with Business Assist for Microsoft 365 to help these customers get up and running. This offer is available to current G Suite legacy free edition users who purchase a 12-month Microsoft 365 subscription by August 2, 2022.
